I used to play Runescape - for a few years, actually.

 

I eventually got into WoW and other games. The experience playing them was a LOT more epic, and massive. However, my biggest complaint is that I just don't have time to invest 3-4+ hours at any given time any more, all the time. You need to in those games. 

 

When I played RS, I played a lot, but you didn't NEED to play for that long to get things done.

 

I've been looking for a game to play again, just here and there (take it semi seriously). Over the past few years, RS has had a lot of changes. 2008-20012 brought a ton.

 

They just made a new server, pre-the-2008 changes, dedicated to "Old School" RS. If you're familiar with the game, it's pre-Summoning and pre-Dungeering.

 

I'm going to give it a try and play here and there. I'm playing now. Not sure of how much I'll play, but, it'll fill some time here and there. 

 

Anyone else play in the past or thinking about playing again? I'm doing the 2007 Old School version.

Yeah I played this when I was like 12.

I dunno, I've got too many other great games to get to to really bother with Runescape again.

Yeah, I mean, there's a million other great games out there. My thing is that I don't want to spend money or invest tremendous amounts of time. So, it's familiar, yet kind cool. Especially for the nostalgia effect of having it be the 2007 version. They actually had voting done to see if this would be something the community wanted (to go against all the changes over the past few years) and almost 500,000 people voted for it.

I used to be a diehard wow player. Blizzard completely ruined the game after doing expansions. They have added so many cool things but destroyed everything that I considered to be highlights of what made it fun.

Yeah same here. I just said to my girlfriend last night about WoW "They essentially were a cool, unique hard rock band who went completely mainstream for radio commercial success for the masses" .

Used to be a die hard player back before all the updates, nothing beats old school pking. I just got membership so I could vote and bring it back. Haven't played since I got it but I'm sure I'm gonna start to once school work dies down.

I can't wait to get back to Barrowing, DKs, and KQs - that was my bread and butter, baby.

Stayed relevant while other games of the genre fizzled and died out? Dunno...

The only game like this I  could get into was Ultima Online. I'm playing Guild Wars 2 now but I'm already kind of bored of it

I played UO for 4 years. I was one of the best PvPers on the Atlantic Server. It was awesome times! Some of the best gaming times I've ever had. Vintage UO has the best PvP system/battle system I've ever seen.

I've dabbled in WoW, and I was crazy about City of Heroes for a bit.  That's all of it though.
